FAMILY
COUNSELLING

INTRODUCTION TO FAMILY COUNSELLING

Family counselling with Charnwood Wellbeing offers a supportive space for family members to navigate conflicts, understand differing perspectives, and move towards solutions that foster acceptance and understanding, especially when individual beliefs clash. Through guided discussions, your counsellor will facilitate open communication and help all involved to speak and listen openly to explore the root of the issues, creating a stronger, more harmonious and resilient family dynamic.

WHAT IS FAMILY
COUNSELLING?

When individual beliefs, thoughts, and actions clash within a family unit, the resulting conflict can be deeply distressing and bewildering. Often, individuals feel they are acting in the best interests of the family, yet their advice and intentions are met with resistance or dismissal. These feelings of helplessness and being unappreciated can escalate, leading to disillusionment and ultimately, a breakdown in family relationships, causing lasting damage to everyone involved. Family counselling offers a supportive pathway to navigate these complex dynamics.

Family counselling with Charnwood Wellbeing provides a structured environment to explore the root causes of conflict and rebuild healthier communication patterns. Through guided conversations, facilitated by your counsellor, each family member is encouraged to speak openly and listen without judgment. The aim is to foster mutual acceptance and understanding of differing perspectives, paving the way for collaborative problem-solving and solutions that accommodate everyone's needs. Whether attending individually or as a group, family counselling can equip you with valuable strategies to navigate current challenges and build stronger, more resilient relationships for the future.

HOW DOES FAMILY
COUNSELLING
WORK?

Family counselling with Charnwood Wellbeing offers a supportive environment where a counsellor guides discussions to help navigate challenging family dynamics. Recognising that conflicts often arise from differing beliefs and actions, the counsellor uses thoughtful questioning to encourage open and non-judgemental communication between family members. This process aims to uncover the root causes of conflict, allowing each person to express their thoughts and feelings in a safe space.

Through this facilitated process, the goal is to foster understanding and acceptance among family members regarding the issues at hand, ultimately working towards mutually agreeable solutions. While attending together is encouraged, individuals can also participate to gain insight into their own emotions, behaviours, and develop new coping strategies. Typically, counselling sessions are held weekly for an initial period of 6-8 weeks, with the flexibility to extend or discontinue as needed, offering ongoing support for maintaining healthy family relationships.
